Planning a holiday? Then you are probably booking all of your travel arrangements. When booking a hotel or a flight there is minimal information that you will need to have in front of you to make your reservations but when booking a vehicle for your holiday there’s a few additional things to think about before leaping online or on the phone to book your reservation.

At the very least you will need to think through the dates that you will need a rental vehicle for. Although you may be tempted to pick one up at the airport when you arrive you may be better off waiting until the following day to pick up your rental vehicle near your hotel and the same with dropping it off the day before you depart. Brisbane, Australia is considered one of the most incredible cities on the globe and if you are scheduling a visit you will discover that there is more to see and do in this area of the world alone then you can ever accomplish in a week long holiday, and you may fond yourself planning a return visit before you even leave from the holiday that you are currently on. Seeing Brisbane, By Foot, By Car Or By Ferry

Brisbane is a compact city which is easy to explore on foot. Maps are available from most hotels and information centers. There is excellent self guided heritage trails and riverside pathways on both sides of the river. A mangrove walkway meanders along the Botanic Gardens riverbank. Public transport in Brisbane includes buses, commuter trains and ferries. City Cat ferries service some of the most popular locations including South Bank, Eagle Street, Riverside, Dockside, New Farm and Kangaroo Point. The two main points of departure are in Eagle Street, but there are various stopping off points along the river. Tour boats supply a commentary and lunch or dinner.

The most economical way to travel on all Brisbane’s public transport if you are making several journeys is with a Rover ticket, available from Administration Centre. This offers unlimited travel for a day, week or month depending on the tickets duration. Another flexible and economical way to see the city is on a City Sights Tram-Bus Tour , an open sided bus which runs a regular shuttle service around all Brisbane’s main sights and attractions. There is a standard fare and you can get on and off whenever you choose. To get back on a Tram-Bus, simply hail one from one of the city Sights clearly signposted tram stops and show your ticket.  Read more...

What Can Townsville Offer Your Vacation?

Townsville, Queenslands third largest city, provides a large coastal position, park lands, attractions, a cafe and restaurant scene, as well as a lofty Castle Hill.

The Great Barrier Reef is just a few hours away out by a fast catamaran and its closeness has allowed Townsville to be increasingly recognized as a center for research into marine life. Reef HQ is home to the headquarters to The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. This underwater observatory is both informative and visually breathtaking. Its living reef is the largest captive reef in the world. Townsville is home to a major armed forces base and James Cook University, giving it a significant population of young adults and a better-than-average nightlife. Many o Townsville’s pubs and bars serve food. Most of the action is along Flinders Street and winds down around 1am. There is also Jupiter’s Casino, famous for its flashing neon faux fireworks, cinemas and nightclubs that are licensed until 5am. On a Sunday morning you can browse through the many bargains at the Rocklea Sunday Discovery Markets. They have a selection of bargains from second hand books to gourmet dog treats. When you are traveling around the TNQ region of Australia , the going can be tough, especially if you are unfamiliar with the region. Taking the time to prepare yourself and your vehicle for any issues or problems that may arise while traveling will help ensure a smooth holiday in this region.

Your first step for getting prepared is to rent your vehicle from a reliable source. The vehicle that you are renting should be able to withstand the travels that you are planning to do with it. You want to make sure that the company your are utilizing have a vehicle for you that can safely get you through the all your Outback adventures. Many of the companies that you are familiar with, in the states, also have rental locations in Australia. These companies may make you feel more secure with your rental than going with a company that you have never heard of before.

The next step is to prepare yourself in case of an emergency. You can do this by obtaining a set of current maps for the region you are visiting, always travel with water in your car, and be sure to have a first aid kit on you at all times.
