Fishing Barnstable Harbor’s Tidal Flats

Fishing the sandbars of Barnstable Harbor is at times, more like fishing in the Florida Keys than fishing Cape Cod. Bass can be found swimming in less than two feet of water on most days. The ocean over the flats takes on a greenish hue under the summertime sun. The water often heats up to near eighty degrees. This is not your typical Northeast fishing environment!

This area of Cape Cod is at times a breathtaking and surreal environment. It is hands down one of the most serene places to wet a line in the New England.

Barnstable Harbor is located at the southernmost point of the Gulf of Maine. The strong currents and windswept ocean have, over the centuries, deposited large amounts of sand and sediment off the coast of Barnstable. The result is large expanses of sand bars which at low tide, stretch for miles into Cape Cod Bay.

The flats off Barnstable are divided by the Barnstable Harbor channel. The channel ranges in depth from 15-40 feet depending on the location. Barnstable Harbor itself is Cape Cod’s most extensive and largest estuary. Marshland covers acres upon acres. Numerous tributaries and creeks empty into Barnstable Harbor. Saints Shock Colts To Win Superbowl

The New Orleans Saints used a 14 point fourth quarter to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 on Sunday to win their first Superbowl in franchise history. Drew Brees broke open a tight game midway through the final quarter with his touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey, and Tracy Porter scored on a 74 yard interception return as the Colts were driving on the next series to secure the victory. Brees was named Superbowl MVP on the basis of his 288 yard, 2 touchdown, 0 interception performance. He completed 32 passes in the game, tying New England’s Tom Brady for the all time record in that category.

After enthusiasts had come in early on the favored Colts, a good deal of buyback on the Saints had pushed the line to -4′ and the New Orleans backers were enriched by their team’s outright victory. The underdog has now covered three straight Superbowls and taken the money in five of the last seven games. The 48 points scored stayed well under the posted total of 57, which was the highest over/under number in Superbowl history.

History of Porter Airlines

Headquartered at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport located on the Toronto Islands in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Porter Airlines is a regional airline operating scheduled flights between Toronto and other locations in Canada and the United States. Billy Bishop Toronto City Center Airport is connected to the mainland by ferries carrying passengers across a 400 ft gap, which is commonly referred to as the world’s shortest scheduled ferry run. Toronto Island Airport is operated by the Toronto Port Authority (TPA). Porter Airline uses a fleet of 24 Canadian-built Bombardier Dash-8 Q 400 turboprop aircraft.

Porter Airlines was established in early February, 2006. The airline’s first flight took place on October 23, 2006 to Ottawa. There were political opponents who were concerned that the operation of a major airline from the island would increase noise and air pollution in the downtown area. There were also concerns expressed regarding safety. The airport’s main runway is 4,000 feet long and 600 feet shorter than Bombardier’s specifications for a fully loaded Q400.
