The seventh in a line of Rugby World Cups, the 2011 Rugby World cup is generating a great deal of excitement already. The Rugby World cup originated in 1987.
Dublin Ireland was the scene of the International Rugby Board meeting held in the latter part of 2005, where several countries were proposed as the host of the Rugby World Cup, Proposed for the host country were South Africa and Japan, along with New Zealand. Two separate rounds of voting by the council saw South Africa removed initially, with New Zealand emerging victorious as the host country for the Rugby World Cups to be held in 2011.
The seventh Rugby World Cup is predicted to cost more than 300 million dollars for the country of New Zealand to host, but it is further predicted to generate more than 280 million New Zealand dollars in ticket sales alone. That, and the many tourists who will come to New Zealand to participate or to spectate, as well as the sales from other items and revenue to the area will be a real boon to the small country. This will be the largest of all the sporting events that have ever come to New Zealand.
